In the early 1930's Mr. Felix Epstein began selling seasonings, herbs and spices from a small storefront pharmacy in Germany. Mr. Epstein found his niche in the sausage and meat industry. In the late 1930's, Mr. Epstein and his family migrated to the United States.

In 1940, Mr. Epstein founded First Spice Mixing Company Inc., opening his first manufacturing plant in lower manhattan. Mr Epstein's background in pharmaceuticals and chemistry helped First Spice to become an industry leader in the development of phosphate blends, pumps, cures, rubs and binders, as well as proprietary seasoning blends for food products such as meats, snack foods and beverages.

The overwhelming demand for First Spice's products and expertise led to the rapid expansion of the company. In the late 1940's and early 1950's, First Spice opened manufacturing facilities in Toronto, Canada and San Francisco, California, as well as Long Island City, New York, the company's current headquarters. This expansion enabled First Spice to offer quality products, quick turnaround and affordable and timely shipping.

First Spice is currently managed by the second and third generation of the Epstein family. First Spice's commitment to quality and service is not only the benchmark of success...It's a family tradition!
